Are your candles actually meant to be burned?
Yes. And also, no pressure. They're sculpted to be proper candles — clean-burning paraffin wax with a cotton wick and a generous burn time. But we know a lot of our customers buy them to stare at. That's entirely valid. The wick is a suggestion, not an obligation. Whatever you end up doing with yours, it's the right answer.
How long does a Kiff candle burn for?
It depends on the candle, but roughly 20–40 hours for smaller pieces (the mini roses, yoga ladies, skulls) and 40–70+ hours for the pillars and bubble stacks. Every product page shows an approximate burn time. Keep sessions to 3–4 hours at a time so the wax pools evenly and nothing ends up tunnelled.
What are they made of — wax, wicks, fragrance?
Paraffin wax (sculpts beautifully, holds detail, burns clean), cotton wicks (no lead, no zinc), and fragrance oils that are IFRA-compliant and skin-safe. Pigments are wax-specific, not random paint. All ingredients are sourced with a preference for local suppliers where we can.
Are they vegan and cruelty-free?
Yes. No animal products, no beeswax, no stearic acid from animal fat. Never tested on anything with a heartbeat.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. We ship worldwide from Johannesburg. South African orders over R500 get free local shipping. International rates are calculated at checkout based on weight and destination. We pack carefully — foam, fluff, the works — because sculptural candles and rough handling do not get along.
My candle has a tiny mark or texture variation — is that normal?
Completely. Every Kiff candle is finished by hand, so small variations in surface, colour, and sheen are part of the deal — the fingerprint of being made rather than manufactured. We only ship candles we'd happily keep on our own shelves. If anything looks like a genuine flaw rather than hand-made character, email us and we'll sort it.
Can I request a custom candle?
Yes — and we love a weird brief. Tell us what you're picturing (colour, scent, occasion, how many, by when) and we'll come back with a quote and a timeline. Custom orders typically take 2–4 weeks depending on the shape. Wedding favours, corporate gifts, "my friend is obsessed with frogs" — we're in.
How do I care for / store one I'm not burning?
Keep it out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources (radiators, warm car dashboards, that sunny windowsill). Wax is soft — sculptural candles can lean or lose detail if they get warm. Dust with a soft dry cloth if needed. Never use water or cleaning products on them. Honestly: put it somewhere lovely and leave it there.

What's your returns policy?
If your candle arrives damaged or you've received the wrong thing, we'll replace it — just email us within 7 days of delivery with a photo. For change-of-mind returns, get in touch within 14 days of delivery and we'll talk you through how to send it back; the candle needs to be unused and in its original packaging.
